Calling all Women of Free City! Let’s gather together on Saturday, April 20 to break bread, mingle with other women we might not normally cross paths with, and hear from a panel of women speakers from the church

For this first event, the topic for the panel will be Solitude. Come for nourishment, soul care, and connection with community.

Join us as we pray for the nations. This monthly gathering takes place in Room 114 at 9:45am to spend 30 minutes of guided prayer together before church. Each month, there will be prompts to pray for a different part of the world. Donuts and coffee provided.

Men of Free City are invited to join for a monthly breakfast on the second Wednesday of every month. Enjoy a devotional and conversation over coffee and food.

Easter is a celebration of the reality that death will not have the last word — Jesus has risen victoriously from the grave! He’s alive! Sin has lost its power and death has lost its sting! Join us as we celebrate the resurrected Savior.

At the conclusion of service, we will have several baptisms. If you’re interested in baptism at Free City, contact KC.

Free City KIDS, family and friends are invited to join us for an Easter Egg Hunt before service on Easter Sunday at the Central Football Field at 9:45am. The Egg Hunt will begin promptly at 10am. KIDS of all ages are invited to participate. Coffee and donuts will also be provided.

Children can bring their own basket, or a brown paper bag will be provided.

This will take place before our 10:30am Easter Service.

On Friday, March 29, we will gather to remember, to meditate, to look and feel our way to the cross of Christ. Join us for Good Friday. 6pm at Liberty Memorial Central Middle School.

**There will be no childcare, but we encourage you to bring the whole family into the service. Activity packets for kids will be available with greeters and at the info table.

DISCOVER FREE CITY

The first step to transition from an attendee to a Covenant Member is to attend our two-week membership class, Discover Free City. The class will provide you with information about church vision, mission, values, distinctive, philosophy, doctrine, etc. You’ll also have the chance to interact with our pastors and elders and get to know others at a similar stage in the life of the church.

Discover Free City will take place this Spring 2024 on February 25 and March 3 from 6-8pm. Additional details will be sent out to those who RSVP. To learn more about membership or sign up for Discover Free City, click here.

Free City is inviting anyone available to come and volunteer to help serve the event as we provide coffee and donuts for all participants.

If you're looking to dive deeper into God's Word with a group of women, we invite you to join our Free City Women's Bible Study that will meet for 10-weeks on Friday mornings, 6:30am at Panera or Wednesday mornings, 9am at a group members home (childcare provided).

Join us for worship service at Central Middle School at 10:30am as we celebrate the fourth Sunday of Advent. Please note that this is Family Worship (kids in service). Activity packets for kids and youth will be available at the info table. This year, there is no evening service.

Kayla and Kara, two City Group Leaders and members of an LTG, will host a training night for how to use the SJT Bible Reading plan and train on the purpose and format for LTGs. New LTGs will be encouraged through this night. Pizza and salad provided.

We will host the second annual Turkey Bowl on Sunday, Nov 12 at 3pm at Central Middle School’s football field. City Groups come play some ball! We’re aiming for 10 people on each team — 7 on 7 with three rotation players/coed with at least three women on each team. Come join us for an afternoon of fun!

We will celebrate new life through baptisms on Sunday, October 29. Baptism is intended for the individual who has received the saving benefits of Christ’s atoning work and become His disciple (Matthew 28:18-19). Before each baptism service, it is necessary for anyone interested in baptism to meet with a Pastor. In the meeting, a Pastor will hear get to know you and hear your story of coming to faith in Christ.

Families are invited to join us on “the hill” at Memorial Stadium on October 7 as the Jayhawks take on UCF. Game time is TBD. We will set up an hour before the game to eat food and watch the game from the hill. We will provide drinks and a main entree. Bring a side or dessert to share. Look for the black tent under the Campanile tower!

Sunday, October 1, we will have an elder installation service for Lowell Terrell. Join us as we welcome Lowell into the pastoral leadership of our church. Service will be at Liberty Memorial Central Middle School at 10:30am.

There will be a lunch celebration immediately following the service at South Park (playground side) between 12-2pm. Sandwiches and drinks provided, bring a side or dessert to share!

Save the date for Sunday, September 17 at 6pm for a church-wide party at Lyons Park! Bring a dessert to share. Our goals for this event are:

1. Get connected this fall: Whether you're new or need to get reconnected, we’ll have opportunities to get plugged in with City Groups, serving teams, and men’s and women’s ministry opportunities.

2. Let’s have fun together! We will help facilitate a Pickleball Tournament on the courts at Lyon’s park for those interested! Bring a racket and ball if you have them, or we’ll have some to share. Sign up in teams of two when you arrive and winners gets bragging rights. Weather permitting, children can play in the splash pad next to the Lyon’s Park shelter, or we’ll organize a game of kickball for the kids!

Young Life is hosting a 5K Run/walk to support their mission in reaching adolescents with Jesus and helping them grow in their faith.

The race begins at 8:30am at the FUMC West Campus Cross Country Course in Lawrence. There will also be a 1K Family Fun Run/Walk at 9:30am.

The entry fee is $35 through September 5, and $40 through September 16. Registration comes with a T-shirt.

1K Fun Run is free and a T-shirt is still provided. Optional donation to Young Life encouraged.

Table for 4 creates an environment that helps foster and strengthen new and existing relationships between the women within our church community.

Groups of four women will be randomly selected and will gather monthly beginning September through December. Each member will take turns organizing the monthly get-together (coffee, tea, lunch, dinner, dessert, or whatever you can dream up!).

Sunday, July 2, we will be at Overlook Park at Clinton Lake from 11am-1pm.

We will have a church-wide cookout. We will grill hotdogs and provide chips and drinks. Please bring a side or dessert and chairs or a blanket for seating. We also encourage outdoor games, etc. Come and enjoy an afternoon of fellowship!

We will also be doing an outdoor baptism! If you are interested in getting baptized, contact KC.

Ethan and Skye Sperle, with a strong core team, are planting a church in Topeka!

On Sunday, May 21, we will have a special commissioning service to send out the Sperle’s and the core team of Remnant Church. This service will take place during our normal scheduled worship time at 10:30 am at Liberty Memorial Central Middle School.

We will have church-wide lunch immediately following Sunday morning worship at South Park (playground side) to continue the celebration. Free City will provide sandwiches and drinks. We ask that church family bring a side dish (chips, salad, etc) or a dessert to share.

Invite back old friends and encourage new friends to join. Bring lawn chairs, yard games, etc, and come ready to celebrate all that God has done through these incredible leaders and their families!

On Friday, April 14 from 7-9pm, we will host a men’s fellowship night at Uplift Coffee.

Our hope for the evening is that men of all ages can come and make meaningful connections and enjoy an evening out together! We have the patio at Uplift Coffee Shop (North Location) reserved. This is an outdoor event. Uplift items available for purchase. Parking in the back gravel lot.

We will host a church-wide sporting event on Sunday, March 26 at 3pm at Central Middle School’s football field. Teams of 5-10 people will compete with five people each on the field at a time, with at least two girls on the field at all times. Gather a team in advance or show up and form a team!

Not interested in running back and forth between trash cans? Bring a lawn chair or a blanket and enjoy time in community!
