ABOUT STEPHEN

Stephen and his wife Kayla have been members at Free City since August 2017 when they moved back to Lawrence to serve on staff with the Navigators at their alma mater. In July 2025, Stephen formally joined part-time staff with Free City as the Care Ministry Director, while continuing on part-time staff with the Navigators. Kayla and Stephen have two kids, Peter and Anna. In his free time he enjoys a good cup of coffee, cheering on the Jayhawks, and doing anything active or competitive.

Stephen has a Masters in Theological Studies with an emphasis in Biblical Counseling from Midwestern Theological Seminary and is currently pursuing certification through the Association of Certified Biblical counselors (ACBC). When asked about Biblical Counseling, Stephen said: “I am passionate about helping people experience the transforming grace given through the gospel of Jesus Christ.”
